Where I have recently heard the term of co-construction in
reference to Valsiner was via Engestrom and Miettinen in their
introduction to Perspectives on Activity Theory. They cite the
following article:

Valsiner, J (1988)
Ontogeny of Co-construction of culture within socially organized
enviromental settings
Child Development within culturally Structured Environments

As a side note I am finding Perspectives on Activity Theory
(1999) a very interesting book.
