hello all, I teach courses in TESL, having been a teacher of ESL with
adults while going to graduate school and having been a teacher of
Cree-speaking children in northern Alberta before that. I have been
interested in language, culture and classrooms for a long time, and was
delighted a few years ago to discover xmca and this community.
I have recently been working with young children learning ESL, and I am
helped in this by living with my 2 (8 and 9 year old) children. Recently,
prompted by lots of things, including Eugene Matusov's great paper
"Intersubjectivity without agreement" (in MCA, 1996), I have been working
on trying to learn something about what disagreements, disputes and
resistance are about in second language learning.
