Based on the empirical investigation of positive examples - and with
emphasis on small and medium-sized enterprises - the study will examine in
case studies the interdependencies between political, economic and
social boundary conditions. In order to broaden the scope of conventional
techno-economic approaches we will focus on examples of successful
change towards energy efficiency and the reduction of CO2 emmissions
stressing a socio-economical and socio-psychological perspective on:
- individual actors: decision-makers, managers of change, change agents
- internal company interaction: from official decision-making bodies to
informal groups
- external company interaction: competitors, customers, energy agencies,
suppliers
- energy-efficiency programme actors
- the perception and evaluation of legal, political and financial frame
conditions by the
respective level of actors
One main objective is to elaborate concepts and economic and social
marketing strategies to promote energy efficiency in industry, commerce
and service. In combination with techno-economical variables based
on traditional barrier analysis, the project aims to derive interdisciplinary
'models of change' describing social innovation in energy efficiency
fostering the social networks on the energy efficiency market.
