Doctoral student at University of Pittsburgh. Interested in
discourse analysis and explanation processes. Currently investigating
students' understanding of evolutionary concepts and students' classroom
explanations in collaborative settings. In the area of discourse, my work
has been influenced by Courtney Cazden, Jay Lemke, Gordon Wells, and
Ellice Forman. Particularly interested in exploring discourse analysis
strategies which may eventually bridge recent advances in sociocultural
theory and French theorization on discourse processes (cf. Ducrot,
Charaudeau). Also interested in discourse analysis in the light of
particular subject-matter issues.
