Greetings. I am currently an assistant professor in the Dept of Language
Ed at the Univ. of Georgia in the FL Ed and TESOL Ed programs. I teach courses
on ESL methods and theories, and L1/L2 acquisition. My research interests
center on the study of f2f interaction, including the sociocognitive
consequences of engagement in different 'interactive practices' and the acq.of
interactional competence in a SL or FL. I'm slightly schizophrenic in my
readings, dabbling in several areas. I very much like Hinde's work on envir.
influences on development, and that by C.Snow and her colleagues on L1 and L2
acquisition. I'm a big fan of Bakhtin, read Wertsch, and keep abreast of
the latest doings in both CA and SLL/A. I have enjoyed earlier
discussions on the old xlchc lists and look forward to more.
