Re: [xmca] teaching history

Frances FitzGerald's book, America Revised: History Schoolbooks in the 20th Century, deals exactly with this topic.  It's not current, but probably still quite useful.

John Wills at UC Riverside has done good work on related topics.  A list of publications is at: http://www.facultydirectory.ucr.edu/cgi-bin/pub/public_individual.pl?faculty=492

Can anyone recommend a good book or article for a student on the way the teaching of history in schools is being, or has been, shaped by political agendas?
