Greetings. My name is John St. Julien. I have been a very peripheral
participant on the xlists for quite a while and am resubscribing as a
result of a move to the University of Delaware where I am now an assistant
professor in the department of educational development.
I am interested in learning; especially in how, materially, learning takes
place and how that constrains what we can reasonably postulate about human
knowledge. I take a mostly connectionist position in regard to learning and
that, for me, ties nicely to a situated position regarding knowledge.
(Which, in turn, leads me to this list.)
I have recently gotten interested in dynamic approaches to development but
will have to wait to see where that leads me. I have also found myself more
and more interested in reexamining G. H. Mead in light of recent attempts
to more deeply explore ideas like emergence which can be used to link
learning to development.
