Mike,
you gave me an idea what to read tonight: Dostoevsky's The Idiot.
In the meantime, in the spirit of "yes, and..." that Lois just
mentioned, while so many of you are still sitting at your computers,
here is a poem for you all:

There is no spider in our web.
Each knot tingling alone,
Weaving the apparently seamless fabric
of our "imagined community".
 
Each knot knows it all
Sending its voices loudly
Asking, pleading, laughing:
"I demand clarity!
We cannot return
to dualistic diatribes!"
 
Soft and hard in the same loop
Round and sharp in the same view
Pulling and letting go.
 
Quizzical voices
Sarcastic shades
Honestly bumped together.
 
Looking for the right distance
In the same activity.
