Integrative Methodologies for Participation

Vivemos, há mais de duas décadas, sob o imperativo da participação dentro do cam- po da gestão social, do planejamento urba- no ou territorial, da produção de políticas públicas, dentre outros. Assim, participação se tornou um conceito genérico e estraté- gico, devendo ser cunhado ao se participar de editais, ao se vislumbrar projetos ou ao se idealizar programas ou políticas gover- namentais.
Estamos cientes da ambiguidade potencial que o conceito de participação pode acar- retar, pois se alicerça num princípio ético, supondo que todo cidadão deve poder ter voz nos assuntos que lhe dizem respeito, e ao mesmo tempo, se justifica dentro de um princípio de eficiência. Seguindo o princí- pio de eficiência, a produção de políticas, em sua grande maioria, acontece de forma mais eficaz se for baseada num princípio de integração e participação dos destinatários.
Este número temático busca levantar ex- periências que, por levar a sério o princípio da participação cidadã, indagam, refletem e experimentam metodologias apropriadas para realizá-la. Trata-se de metodologias que assumem radicalmente o desafio da ampliação da esfera pública. Ora, ainda en- contramos frequentemente práticas tradi- cionais que são maquiadas pelo rótulo da participação. O tecnicismo e o desprezo a tudo o que não se apresenta nas vestes do conhecimento codificado como cientí- fico cria barreiras para a real integração na esfera pública dos que não comungam das mesmas formas de conhecimento.
A expressão “Metodologias Integrativas” alude à possibilidade de atuarmos, nos vários campos do conhecimento, para su-
perar as dicotomias características da ciên- cia moderna. Ou seja, buscamos trabalhos que promovam a religação de várias dimen- sões: (a) da criatividade, da arte e da ética com a ciência; (b) do corpo, da emoção e da intuição dentro da análise e da pesquisa; (c) da improvisação, da ludicidade e da escuta do novo com o método.
Temos uma vaga percepção de que as práticas orientadas pelas metodologias in- tegrativas vão além das que conhecemos. Acontecem em campos variados, a partir de disciplinas heterogêneas e, provavelmente, aludindo a um campo em emergência, que é inter ou transdisciplinar.
As submissões devem estar de acordo com uma das 6 formas de contribuição (tecnológica, teórica, vivencial, indica- tiva, fotográfica ou audiovisual) aceitas pela RIGS (www.rigs.ufba.br/estilo).
Independente da forma de contribuição escolhida, cada submissão deve enfatizar dentro do texto o papel da dimensão meto- dológica como concretização de uma prática inovadora de construção de conhecimentos e de ações de forma integradora, coopera- tiva e solidária. As submissões devem tam- bém seguir as orientações e formulários disponíveis no site da RIGS: www.rigs. ufba.br/submissao.

We have been living, for more than two decades, under the imperative of participation, in the field of social management, urban and regional planning and production of public policies, amongst other areas. Thus, it is important to mention that, at the time, participation has become a generic and strategic concept, when participating in tenders, envision projects, or design programs and governmental policies.
We are aware of the potential ambiguity that the concept of participation can bring on, as it is grounded in an ethical and efficiency principle. The first says that every citizen must have a voice in the matters that concerns himself/ herself, whilst, according to the latter, policy-making is more effective when it includes and mobilizes all concerned actors.
The thematic issue of RIGS we are presenting here aims to focus on experiences that, based on a deep believe in the principle of citizen participation, investigate, reflect on and create appropriate methodologies in order to materialize such a goal. In other words, through such methodologies we assume the challenge of radically expanding the public sphere. However, we know that still exist conventional practices, often disguised as participatory, which are imbued with technicality and contempt for everything that does not present itself in the garments of science.As a fact,scientific knowledge,assumed as the only possible truth, creates barriers to effective integration in the public sphere of those who do not share the same type of knowledge.
The term “Integrative Methodologies” gives us the possibility of acting in several areas of knowledge in order to overcome the dichotomies common within the modern science. That is to say, we work in order to promote the reconnection of several dimensions: (a) creativity, art and ethics with science; (b) body, emotion and intuition within analysis and research; (c) improvisation, playfulness and openness to novelty, within method.
We guess that the practices, oriented by such a framework, go beyond those we already know. They are being developed in varied fields of action, from heterogeneous disciplines and alluding to an emerging, inter or transdisciplinary field.
Submissions must be in accordance to one of the six types of presentation (technological, theoretical, experiential, indicative, photographic or audiovisual) accepted by RIGS. (www.rigs.ufba.br/ estilo).
Independently of the chosen presentation, each submission should emphasize the role of the methodological dimension as the embodiment of an innovative practice in the construction of knowledge-action in an inclusive, cooperative and supportive way. Submissions should follow the guidelines and forms available on: www.rigs.ufba.br/ submissao.
