One last thought about it. One wonderful example of lexical creativity is, as you cite, Derrida (and in general most French thinkers, who were, by and large, enamored with language). But the audacity of Derrida is built on his assumption that readers (because the difference is not noticeable to speakers) will focus on the letter than changed and yet carry and connect the meaning (with differ). It's a marvelous trick, also very consistent with Derrida's major thesis in Of grammatology. En fin!
