In connection with it Russian State University for the Humanities, the L. S.
Vygotsky Institute of Psychology, the International L.S.Vygotsky Society and
L.S.Vygotsky Fund hold in Moscow the 7th International L.S.Vygotsky Memorial
Conference "Cultural Historical Theory: Prospects of Development"
The conference will take place at November, 14-17 in Russian State
University for the Humanities.

The 7th International Memorial Vygotsky Conference "Cultural Historical
Theory: Prospects of Development" dedicated to the 110th Anniversary of
L.S.Vygotsky will take place on 15 - 17 November, 2006. This will be
organized by Russian State University for the Humanities, the L. S. Vygotsky
Institute of Psychology, the International L.S.Vygotsky Society, the
L.S.Vygotsky Fund.
The main themes of the conference
Development of L.S.Vygotsky's ideas in the new century;
Dialectics: non-developed philosophical and methodological quintessence of
cultural historical theory;
Two approaches in psychology: an activity-based and/or cultural historical?
Psychology as an objective science
>From the chronology of childhood to its theory
The world of meaning of the developing conscious
Education as a general form of an individual and societal development
Vygotskian approach as an international phenomenon
The scientific basics of cultural historical psychology
The questions above as well as other ones are supposed to be discussed
within the work of symposia according to the following topics:
Zone of Proximal Development and what is beyond it;
Socialisation, social situation of development and "growing into culture";
The indisputable and disputable in mediating of psychical functions;
The correlation between the ideas of "psychical" dimension and "individual"
self?
Age as a problem of sciences devoted to the study of man;
Theoretical psychology: "The stone the builders rejected";
Psychology of art as the key to understanding man;
The picture of the world through the prism of language: psycholinguistics
and the related concepts;
The problem of the norm, psychical health and psychological well-being;
Forming and projecting spontaneous and purposeful development;
The methods of investigation in classical and non-classical psychology.
Prospects of experimental psychology.
Call For Proposals
The Programme Committee invites researchers to send proposals that
correspond to one of the above-mentioned themes. A proposal can be submitted
as:
an abstract of the paper corresponding to one of the conference themes (1000
- 1200 words);
an abstract of the poster paper presentation corresponding to one of the
conference themes (maximum 2500 words);
a symposium programme that corresponds to one of the conference themes.
Working Languages are Russian and English
All abstracts shall be included in the symposium programme.

The title of the paper (symposium);
The author's name and academic degree;
The author's place of work;
Mailing address and e-mail
Reference to one of the conference themes
Please inform us if you might be interested in other kinds of participation
in the conference, e.g. as a discussant, in book exhibition, etc.
The speaking time will be thirty minutes at the plenary session and
fifteen minutes - at the symposium. Please let us know beforehand what
kind(s) of equipment you may need.

- for the submission of proposals: June 21, 2006
- for the notification of proposal acceptance: July 21, 2006
