first, bill guy. way too quote the mammoth text dude!

while reading it,
i was reminded of the whole Alfred Binet thing, (we know the story right?
Alfred Binet
and Stanford University?)
anyhoo,
early in the 20th century the French statistician (Binet) devised (for the
government's superintendent of schools, or ECOLES as they say) an entrance
exam for private boy's schools
that would target lower-class boys and so ensure they would not
"contaminate"
the school.
not surprisingly, the whole idea of "intelligence" (seen as how it is
specifically
designed to isolate class differences) is continuing to be a curious
function of class conflicts and all those privilege issues
that tend to be seeping out like Velveeta being squashed from grill cheese
sandwich.
