I have been following the shocking posting about the destruction of the Prague Jewish cemetery. Since I have grew up in Prague and still have many contacts there, I have made some inquiries and learned the following: the existing Jewish cemetery with the graves of the prominent rabbis referred to in this posting has never been proposed to be destroyed. Rather, the location to be built on is a nearby courtyard where archeologists have recently found the remains of another Jewish cemetery dating to 12th century. The remains were consequently offered to the Jewish community to be buried at the site of the existing cemetery. That seems to be the origin of this posting...
