Argumentum ad hominem: The "postmodern" dialectic

All arguments are ultimately ad hominem. Arguments, like thoughts, cannot
exist seperately from the humans who propose them.

The abolished referent signifies intellectual violence. Destruction of the
relationship between material humanity and material nature is the ultimate
destruction of humanity itself.

One cannot not produce, just as one cannot not consume.

Humanity cannot destroy nature. Nature can destroy humanity. Humanity can
only destroy humanity.

Value resides in people, nowhere else. That which we value constantly=
changes.

All being exists in the tension created by extremes. Love and hate.
Destructive heat and paralysing cold. The particular and the general. Good
and evil. Therefore history is dialectic.

Tolerance as a universal value system must tolerate ultimate intolerance.
Thus, ultimate tolerance is ultimate idiocy.=20

The Perron-Frobenius operator's effect upon the Baker transformation
demonstrates that eggs cannot be unscrambled. Thus, advanced science
presents us with mundane idiocies. Brilliance lies in simplicity.

Nihilism is fear and self-loathing. Existentialism is intellectual death.
Human experience is life.=20

Discursive construction of the subject renders the subject as merely the
meeting point for heteronomously defined generalities; pre-existing
discursive tendencies and there are no exceptions. Therefore, there are no
individuals. Here, in the presence of heteronomously defined, and therefore
homologous, individuals, no society can exist in totalitarian
conceptualisations.

Criticism is disallowed when value is reduced to a totalitarian, totalising
value system of tolerance. No other values are tolerated.=20

The end of tolerance is the end of subsumption. The realisation of
universal values is the reification of totalitarianism.

Enlightenment is dead; long live enlightenment. Enlightenment has given way
to intellectual paralysis and sentimental platitudes. Rationality is
debased in the hands of the non-skeptical. Rationality is abused in the
mind of the addict. Rationality is humanity's only hope.

For Eva: I am food for thought. Thought consumes me as I dissipate, a
chemical fizzing of consciousness sheathed in mortality and a transient
fragile epidermis. I am cursed with a survival instinct that drives a
rationality borne out of survival, sometimes briefly freed by serendipitous
enlightenment.

For Jay: Sarantakos, S. (1993). Social Research. South Melbourne: MacMillan.
Good cross section. Thanks for the great bibliog.
