Lillian Weber, a great educator, who was at City University, developed a
program she called Open Corridors. She worked in NY City schools with bolt
down desks in rows in very old buildings. But these buildings had wide
corridors with very high ceilings. So the teachers made maximum use f the
corridors to do the group work and projects the inflexible classrooms
would not permit. Many teachers believe there's always a way to do good
teaching.
