getting drowned... in my paper world :-(

Hi fellow xmca-ers,

This request for suggestions is kind of off-beat, but a very practical
(though mundane) one for an apprentice learning the everyday craft of the
academic world... :-{

My problem:
I'm buried alive under my piles of papers, refs,... and so on... got
any suggestion to me for an efficient organization of my stuff?! I'm
really mad at myself you know... when I can't find a ref. I want... and
whenever I go into my room, I'm bound to kick on a book or a pile of
articles! Poor me... I've had very bad house-keeping training right from
my childhood... my college room-mate used to joke at my
messiness, saying... Angel is always buried in her papers...! *SIGH*

A highly successful and organized fellow-student once showed me how he
organized his stuff... he enters all refs/books/... into a bibliography
data base, and then physically put his stuff according to
author name in alphabetical order in files in file cabinets. When he wants
a ref., he searches for a subject key word in his computer data base,
gets the ref. title and author name and goes to his file cabinets...
kind of like setting up a home library with a computer catalogue.

Gee, right now I don't have time to do that (i.e., entering all info.
into computer)...

Any QUICK FIX solution/suggestions???

Thanks a million... :-)
Angel
