Friends:
I have recently become involved with some colleagues at the Melton Center
of the Hebrew University in an effort to develope a framework for dealing
with the topic of what, within the circles of Jewish education, has been
called Informal education. I believe that what really is meant by Informal
education, within these circles, are traditional or not so traditional
strategies or pedagogy which will help,in the modern western world in which
we live, sustain and develope an identifiable minority culture (in our case
Jewish culture). Our aim is to suggest the establishment of a unit
(track),for graduate students, on informal education at the Melton Center.
Assuming that in other academic (or other educational) environments similar
questions might have been asked and even some responses found, I'm seeking
the help of xmca affiliates to identify existing programs dealing with this
subject or recent literature published in this field.
If you have any information I would appreciate you sending it to.
