Eva,
The issue of originators-- their impact and power, and our tendencies
to be silenced in our own efforts at originating because of our admiration
for them-- has been of interest to me. I think systematic theory construction
requires passion and persistence, and a willingness to forego
quick recognition, these qualities deserve admiration. An effective
theoretical
framework can also provide the foundation for the sustained, shared,
co-constructed expansion and modification of ideas that we, on xmca,
engage in with gusto and creativity. The fact that these originators are
often "guys" is linked, I think, to the willingness of more men to fight
for a "room of one's own" even if this is but an attitude, not a claim
for quiet and space.But
this is changing, as many more women are eager to participate in the
co-construction of new ideas, and the claims for authorship.
There is so much to say about this...
