Jay and others; I highly recommend the work of Carol Padden here
at UCLA on ASL. Today at our cognitive science department she will
be giving a talk on "How ASL works" that, among other things, will
talk about the phonology of sign. Usually these talks are written
up by students, I'll pass it along. See also Padden & Humphries,
