Self Description of Ted Panitz

This is an introduction to Ted Panitz which will hopefully get me on the
constructivist mailing list. I say hopefully because this is the first time
I have been asked to write an introduction to get on a mailing list. I am
trying to construct in my mind the reasoning behind this approach. When I
have done that to my satisfaction I will share my thoughts with the list.
I teach math and engineering courses at Cape Cod Community College and
concentrate on developmental math. I use cooperative learning techniques
extensively in all my classes and try on ocasion to use constructivist
approaches to having students learn math. My training in this area has been
limited to self exploration through reading articles. I am interested in
building my background in this area and hearing from others what things they
use in class, procedures, materials etc.
I am quite interested in participating in this list and would love to hear
others opinions about the process for signing onto the list.
