I realized that I haven't introcduced myself, yet already (briefly)
joined in on the discussion last week (actually I sent out a really
lame intro, a two-liner, last week -- not realizing what I was
doing!). My grandmother would say that is taking the "cart before
the horse (pronounced "harse")"!
So....
My name is Lisa Taylor. I just completed my studies for a Bachelors
degree at the University of Utah in SLC, Utah, USA. I've been working
with Alan Fogel for about 2 1/2 years, and also completed a Senior
Thesis which he supervised/advised. This was an examination of
pretend and physical/exploratory play and focused on 2 mother-infant
dyads, as I mentioned in my other message. The 2 exciting parts of
this work, for me, are that (1) I explored this topic using a
narrative approach to discuss the play I observed and (2) I used a
frame analysis, and dynamic systems approach to the work/analysis.
(I realize that I may have used terms that are meaningless to some --
sorry about that! I don't have time right now to define them. Feel
free to email if you're interested in more info regarding them....)
I have two main research interests right now -- the development of
play within the 'context' of m-i relationships, and the development
of the "self" in infancy. (I realize I'm using 'context' rather
loosely there...)
When I'm not working in teh lab, I enjoy hiking, biking, running,
dancing, reading, painting (watercolor), photography and writing.
I also do lots of yard work right now (and shovel several feet of snow
in the wintertime!).
I am excited to join in on the dialogues...thanks for the stimulating
reading every day!
