I am a Professor of English Education at the University of Minnesota and author
of eleven books related to literacy education, including A Teacher's
Introduction to Reader Response Theories (NCTE). My priimary research interests
are in the areas of response to literature/media and composition. I have a
current interest in how discourses serve to constitute reader stances and social
contexts, for example, how discourses of religion/therapy position readers in
responding to texts. I am also interested in how computer-mediated written
exchanges constitute social practices in peer-dialogue writing.
