Helen Hasan is currently a Senior Lecturer in Information Systems, in the
Department of Business Systems at the University of Wollongong where she
plays a prominent role in teaching, research and administration. Her areas
of teaching include computer programming, database and human-computer
interaction as well as the supervision of student projects at all levels.
Her primary area of research interest is in Information Systems in
Organisations, specifically in Executive Information Systems and
Human-Computer Interaction. She is currently the leader of the project
entitled The Evaluation and Development of Information Systems for
Managerial Decision Making. This project is currently supported by a grant
from the IT Chapter of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants The
research group has a growing reputation in the area of EIS. We are looking
at applying Activity Theory as a theoretical basis and have contacts with
Victor Kaptelinin and Kari Kutti among others.

Helen holds a BSc from the University of New South Wales, an MSc from
Macquarie University, and a Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from the
Wollongong University. She is a member of the American Association for
Computer Machinery (ACM) and a CHISIG (Australia) the association for
Human-Computer Interaction. In this capacity Helen chaired the committee
which organised the 1995 national HCI conference at Wollongong.
