My current work focuses mostly on young children's play and narrative
activity, understood as overlapping forms of socioculturally situated
symbolic action, and their role development--including both the construction
of reality and the formation of identity. This connects with an ongoing
interest in grasping the dynamics of emergent literacy. I'm presently
teaching in the Dept. of Education & Child study at Smith College.
