$B!!!!(BMy goal is to clarify how students find their identity
in their classrooms and become full participants of school
community.
My main concern is to improve Japanese students' ways
of speech communication that mediate their mind and thinking.
I want to do this research by comparative method.
My assumption is that mediational means are highly situated
in cultural historical institutional settings. I already observed
many classrooms in California and Japan. I found that basically
American students are active and Japanese students are passive
in speech communication. I think this reflects both sociocultural
settings. However some Japanese students are more active than
American students. Both situations are not so simple.
I believe this research will contribute to mutual understanding
between Japan and USA. Because our ways of communication is
extremely different from American ways and cause many
misunderstandings between us.
Followings are main theorists who inspire my interest.
