I am currently writing my thesis titled: "Peer teaching as a
meaning-making activity". In the fall and winter of 1994-95, I worked
with 15, eight and nine year old students who took on teaching roles with
students in kindergarten, grades 1, 2 and 3. The peer teachers were
interviewed while they viewed their teaching and their contributions were
analyzed individually and collectively. They wrote in dialogue journals
throughout the project, and developed a 'Clue Book' for future peer
teachers. The discussions during the Clue Book writing activity were
particularly interesting. I find sociocultural theory very helpful in
terms of making sense of our experience.
