Hello, everyone. My name is Kathy O'Byrne. I am a faculty member in the
Counseling Department at Cal State Fullerton and a therapist in a group
practice.
My doctorate is in counseling psychology, and my research program currently
has three active tracks.
I am interested in action research, research on research (particularly the
culture and community of researchers), and the teaching /training of graduate
students in counseling.
Lave and Wenger's _Situated Learning_ has influenced my thinking, research
and teaching. I am interested in looking at ways in which communities, the
use of language and intersubjectivity are therapeutic, or at least promote
change and learning. Other researchers and theorists that "inspire my
interest and efforts" are Jerome Bruner, Jim Wertsch, Tharp and Gallimore,
Mike Cole, Robert Stolorow and Lisa Hoshmand.
I look forward to the upcoming discussions with interest and enthusiasm!
