I am Associate Dean for Graduate Studies at the Faculty of Education,
University of Manitoba. The University of Manitoba is located in Winnipeg,
Manitoba--a very cold city of 600,000 people near the geographic center of
North America. I am interested in everyday conceptions of key notions
related to education, such as teaching, learning, and "the" child. My
research on these themes owes a debt to Vygotsky, though it often does not
say so. I am also interested in what might be called the rhetoric of
developmental psychology, of early childhood education, and of academic
writing generally.
