Alfred;
I apologize for the error. Looking back on your previous posts I found
mention of the figure-ground principle; a reference to the Gestalt concept?
Somehow I must have been thinking of something as I was reading your post and
this had morphed in my memory as 'ground theory'.
I would concur that a comprehensive theory of psychology should include this
principle. Besides visual fields people do it with their conceptualizing all
the time, many times leading people to come to false conclusions about how
the physical world works. In the field of sociocultural psychology I would
assume that it could cause theorizers to falsely attribute cultural artifacts
to observable behaviors, or vice versa.
Is this more along the lines of your inquiry?
