I've been tracing a weird route of late, no need to get into all of its
oddities, but I am wondering about how

the relationship between the empiricism (reality is experienced)
of folks like
Berkeley and (the less extreme) Hume, then tonight I was reading John
Stuart Mill's essays ('coz I'm a nerd) and find, yet again, that of course
these guys must be the precursors of GHMead:

but also Vygotsky ? I was always of the idea that Vyg's science was
informed through Russain socialism (communism) - and I confess I never took
it further ...

of course I can see, too, how Mill's utilitarianism informs Dewey, and so
too rationalism, Richard (gagme) Rorty... but the relation between
"rational conversation" or "free discussion" and Vyg's work with language &
speech, I mean,
these share in a certain belief-system:

what philosophies influenced Vyg's work?
[Rereading some of this historical stuff, I can't help but think that
nothing has really changed, I mean, it seems like ever since we grasped
gravity we stopped really reaching.]
