Reflecting on Yrjo's abstract concerning the complementarity of
internalization and externalization, two thoughts come quickly to
mind:

1. Its an irony that Vygotsky should make the idea that "the thought
is completed in the word (utterance) the central theme of the last
chapter of Thinking and sSpeech but the idea of externalization is
not generally associated with him.

and 2 (associatedly)

That Vygotsky is widely interpreted as a social learning theorist
who posits an active social world and a passive subject.
