good points about thinking and language. one of the reasons i
prefer peircean semiotics to sausurrean semiotics is that the
latter is couched within a linguistic frame, broadly conceived,
while the former looks upon the act of semiotics as a form of
logic, again broadly conceived. and this inferential process
may be quite independent of language. as peirce contended, the
twitch of the leg of a decapitated frog to an electrical impulse
is a perfectly good example of the classic syllogism under
barbara!
