Peter, you're right. But still... Even given the realities of
the job market & the choices students have already made or are
likely to make about their paths, I still think that the more
we all know about privileged discourse practices the more we can
exploit them for our purposes from whatever position we take up
in the socio-cultural arena. Anyway, I'm new at this teaching
business, so I'm entitled to unrealistic visions of what I
and my students can do.
