Hi Mike

Spring is late in coming this year in Sweden as in Finland. I woke up the
other night to the sounds of wind and _rain_ and felt very happy on the
prospect of thawing ground. Then as the day came the rain got more and more
mixed with snow. And now there is a fresh layer of snow on the ground.

About Eugene's paper: I have learned a lot from the versions of it that I
have read, and from Eugene's related contributions to the xlchc discussions
in the summer of -94. How it is less fruitful to analyse interaction/
/collaboration on the basic assumption of agreement as a precondition _or_
as a goal. How coordination still leaves room for integrity.
And I like Bill's accurate observation of the complementary
relation to Billig's "rhetorical psychology" -- describing how neither a
discourse community nor an individual participant functions as a
homogeneous and consistent set of views/ /conceptions/ /what-have-you. But
as a wielding of opposites and contradictions that are shifted but never
dissolved.
Applying these ideas in education is a challenge...
