To follow up on Mike's suggestion:

I really enjoyed reading Eugene's paper, "Intersubjectivity without
Agreement." I think he makes an important theoretical contribution to the
understanding of how activities can be well-coordinated without requiring
participants to "share" complete understanding with one another.

His notions I think complement work of discursive psychologists such as
Billig (1987), which emphasize that larger sociocultural frames themselves
are zones of disagreement or shared conflicts (as opposed to shared
agreements). There is, in their terms, a kind of "rhetorical" construction
of cultural values, consistent with much of what Eugene writes here.
