****************CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT*******************
THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON Computer Support for Collaborative
Learning (CSCL'95) at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana October
17-20, 1995. CSCL '95 is devoted to the exploration of the uses of
technology in collaborative forms of instruction and learning. Rather than
viewing learning as a largely individual and private process occurring only
in the head of the learner, current efforts in Computer Support for
Collaborative Learning focus on supporting groups of learners
collaboratively engaged in problem-solving activities. The conference will
feature keynote addresses by Marlene Scardamalia (U. of Toronto/OISE) and
Viktor Kaptelinin (Russian Academy of Education). In addition there will
be technical sessions, collaborative sessions, invited panels,
demonstrations, and exhibits. Pre-conference tutorials will be offered in
two streams: one providing an overview of past work in CSCL, the other
focusing on specific application areas.
