Associate/Full Professorship in Educational Psychology
The College of Education at Michigan State University seeks candidates for
an academic year tenure system position at the rank or Associate of Full
Professor in Educational Psychology. The faculty member hired for this
position will complement the nationally recognized faculty in this program
area and teacher education. Scholars with interests in learning,
cognition, or related areas such as socio-cultural processes, cognitive,
social, or emotional development, classroom learning and teaching,
motivation, and educational technology are encouraged to apply. The
resulting academic appointment will be in the Department of Counseling,
Educational Psychology and Special Education, where Educational Psychology
is a major program area. Affiliations with research centers in the College
are also possible. Appointment will begin in Fall 2001. Salary will
depend upon the applicant's experience and qualifications. Additional
resources will accompany this full professorship position to support and
enhance the individual's intellectual agenda.
Responsibilities: The person filling this position will provide leadership
in the research, teaching, and outreach missions of the College, nationally
and regionally. Specific duties include (1) conducting and publishing
research; (2) obtaining external funding for research programs; (3)
providing leadership in the Educational Psychology program area; (4)
working collaboratively with faculty and doctoral students in a top-rated
educational psychology program; and (5) connecting with several
federally-funded initiatives on reform-minded teaching and learning.
Qualifications: (1) A doctorate in educational psychology or closely
related field (2) evidence of sustained, high quality scholarship; (3)
demonstrated excellence in teaching and in the mentoring of graduate
students; (4) the ability to recruit promising graduate students; (5) the
ability to work collaboratively with college faculty; (6) the ability to
contribute to public service and outreach efforts in the area of student
learning- oriented educational reform; and (7) record of externally funded
research.
