Like Kathryn I usually hate raising my hand -- and I've been known to be
against the automated practice of putting newcomers in the limelight before
they have had a chance to observe the audience.

On the other hand, like Anna and John I have kind of noticed that I don't
really know who's on there anymore, especially not the people in the back
of the room. (Hi Rolfe! glad to see YOU back on line!) So I really
appreciated Kim's initiative -- I guess I always prefer the voluntary path.

When self-presentation comes in batch in this roll call fashion, the reader
really gets a sense of who we are in this invisible collegium... there's a
pattern of teaching, learning, Vygotsky, literacy, self-organization,
computers, communication, Marx. CHAT.

I hope to receive more introductory miniatures in the next few days.
