Hi Zvi, I was my usual most serious self, writing a new pledge. What I fogot
was to preface, or perhaps postface it with a " With all due respect to
traditional pledgers". I mean that too.

Now, please could you explain Mike, Betsy Ross and her stitching. Also the
reference to Colorado. I've read and heard some things about Colorado, but
I am missing the links with the pledge. And thinking about it, I sure
wouldn't have minded someone explaining all of the words in many recitations.
Being a French kid spending each Summer in the US, I just did what everybody
else did -pledging in the US, reciting the Lord's prayer in Great Britain,
and trying to memorize Lafontaine's Fables in Old French in France. The
dictionary helps a lot, but like Katherine Brown, I think that it takes
years before you turn around and actually say "wait a minute" what does all
this stuff really mean. Or perhaps you find yourself saying something else
with the same tune and then again you wonder, and perhaps get a chance to
understand.
