School of Education 2010-2011 Faculty Positions

The School of Education at the University of Colorado at Boulder announces three tenure track faculty positions for the 2010-2011 academic year: two Educational Psychology and Learning Sciences positions and one Second Language Acquisition/Bilingual Education position.

The CU-Boulder School of Education is located at the flagship campus of the University of Colorado, situated at the base of the Rocky Mountains 25 miles northwest of Denver. The School has a tradition of excellence and offers a welcoming and collaborative environment for scholars who desire to pursue the highest quality research and teaching. The School intends to hire at the Assistant and Associate Professor levels, with consideration given to hiring at the Professor level when appropriate. Scholars of color are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities: Candidates for the positions must be willing to contribute to teaching and program development in the teacher education and graduate programs, conduct research, publish in significant refereed journals, and seek outside funding. Candidates must be committed to working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and scholarly record.

Educational Psychology and Learning Sciences: Candidates for these two positions must have an earned doctorate in the Learning Sciences, Developmental Psychology, Educational Psychology, or Cognitive Science. Candidates should have a strong record of research and teaching experience that will contribute to the further development of an interdisciplinary Learning Sciences group and to the Educational Psychology program area. Teaching and program development responsibilities include teacher education courses and graduate courses in educational psychology. We are particularly interested in scholars with interests in one or more of the following areas: cultural processes in learning, new media and technologies, and/or design-based research either in schools or in out-of-school contexts. The School of Education has strong collaborations with CU-Boulder’s Institute of Cognitive Science (ICS), the Science Education Initiative (SEI), and the Culture, Language, and Social Practice (CLASP) program.
