Both "higher mental" and tool and symbol" were translated by Maria Hall who
many will remember as a translator of the recent Leont'ev book we
discussed. Rieber was the editor of both of them.
My understanding is most (if not all) of the English collected works were
from Russian originals. For example V6 comes from a Russian text that
included "tool and sign" and V's work on emotions.
