Dear Eugene-- When did you stop being 60 and very serious? :-)

Thanks for the summary of the conference. I am glad that the food was
so good you did not have to fret over jetlag.

With unemployment of people in the 18-30 age range running 20 and more
percent all over Europe it is a little difficult to understand the great
enthusiasm for the benefits of capitalism vis a vis "youth"!!

When you get another hundred messages down your long list (oh the pain
of return to email!) you will find one from Marc Camras, who works here
at LCHC, asking about the generalization of research discussed in
Rogoff and Tudges article on Vygotsky and Piaget focused around a contrast
between peers and more knowledgable others. We are finding ourselves
becoming more and more involved with "kids" across an age span from 3-18
which brings with it a lot of questions that do not arise in the
cultural-historical research tradition very often.

The question of adolescence/youth must be very acute in Russia rightr
now owing to the protracted process of conversion to late 19th
century capitalism under conditions of late 20th century technology.

Anyone you know who could inform us about that?
