Well, a theoretical concept is only theoretical if you embrace it
theoretically.  In the mode of popularising it may indeed lose its
significance until it is taken up as an object of inquiry.

TED is not a platform for such inquiry.  Hence the consequences of medium ("not
being academic but saying something new") and message (theoretical content
not treated as such).

When I watched some of the video, I got the impression that play was being
overdone somewhat, but there's no forum for engaging critically with the
content itself, because that is not what the forum is about.
