Site Descriptions

UC San Diego has eight sites. A total of 415 preK-12th grade students and 160 undergraduates participated in the sites (based on 2005-06 data).
Programs:
  • Town and Country Village Learning Center in southeast San Diego. Principal Investigators: Professor Michael Cole, in the Departments of Communication, Psychology, and Human Development Program, and Director of the Laboratory of Comparative Human Cognition (LCHC); Diane Baxter, San Diego Super Computer Center.
  • La Clase Mágica located at St. Leo’s Mission in Solana Beach. Principal Investigators: Professor Olga Vasquez in the Department of Communication; and Professor Michael Cole, in the Departments of Communication, Psychology, and Human Development Program, and Director of the Laboratory of Comparative Human Cognition (LCHC).
  • Lil' Champs located at Pauma Elementary School in Valley Center is a collaboratively run site with Palomar Community College. Principal Investigators: UC San Diego Professor Olga Vasquez in the Department of Communication; and Palomar College Professor John Valdez in the Multicultural Studies Program.
  • TACKLE located at the San Pasqual Educational Center in Valley Center is a collaboratively run site with Palomar Community College. Principal Investigators: UC San Diego Professor Olga Vasquez in the Department of Communication; and Palomar College Professor John Valdez in the Multicultural Studies Program.
