Course Description:
- Explores principles of learning and the
research applications of behavior modification,
covering topics such as the historical origins
of learning theory; classical and operant conditioning;
cognitive aspects of complex learning tasks; biological
factors in learning; and applications of behavior
modification in an educational environment are
covered.
- Connects theory to practice and improves conceptual
and practical knowledge of course
Fieldwork:
- Undergraduates mentoring and interacting with
children at the site two hours a week
- Observation of children’s experiences in
the program and preparation of field notes
- Provide undergraduates with experience working
with diverse children and community organizations
Evaluation Strategies:
- Pre- and post-test of undergraduate knowledge
of course content
- Examination of undergraduate field notes to measure
understanding of theory and practice related to
course content
- Survey of undergraduate interest in pursuing
graduate or professional school studies
