Course Description:
- Introduces the basic concepts in psychology and
exposes students to topics such as the biological
basis of behavior, research and statistics, human
development, learning and memory, motivation, health
and personality, language development, and issues
associated with thought and intelligence.
- Connects theory to practice and improves conceptual
and practical knowledge of course content
Fieldwork:
- Undergraduates mentoring and interacting with
children at the site two hours a week
- Observation of children’s experiences in
the program and preparation of field notes
- Provide undergraduates with experience working
with diverse children and community organizations
Evaluation Strategies:
- Pre- and post-test of undergraduate knowledge
of course content
- Examination of undergraduate field notes to measure
understanding of theory and practice related to
course content
- Survey of undergraduate interest in pursuing
graduate or professional school studies
