Social Development and Learning Postdoctoral Position at Boston University

The Social Development and Learning Lab at Boston University (PI: Dr. Peter
Blake) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to begin Fall 2013. The fellow
will focus on the development of cooperative behavior in children across
cultures. Our lab uses experimental methods to study the factors that
influence the development of cooperation, altruism, fairness, social and
moral norms, learning processes, and private property. We are currently
expanding our testing to field sites around the globe through
collaborations with an interdisciplinary team of developmental
psychologists, anthropologists, economists and evolutionary biologists. The
fellow will be a core member of that team and will design, coordinate and
run research studies both in the US and abroad, analyze data, and prepare
publications. The fellow will be an active participant in the vibrant
intellectual community in Developmental Science at BU.

Ideal candidates should be creative, independent, articulate and deeply
engaged in questions related to cooperation and social influences on child
development. Relevant experience includes field research, experimental
design, and prior work with children. Relevant training includes
anthropology, developmental psychology, and behavioral economics.

Individuals with a Ph.D., or those expecting to complete their Ph.D. in
Spring 2013, are encouraged to apply. The position is for one-year,
extendable to two-years contingent on funding. Applications must be
received by March 1st, 2013 to be considered. Please send CV, statement of
interest (two pages max), 2 reprints/preprints, and at least 3 references
to: Maria Renken, mrenken@bu.edu. Please also indicate any expertise
related to field research, language fluency, experimental methods, game
theory, or quantitative analysis. Lastly, please write “SDLL Postdoc
Position” in the subject line of your email.

Applications from women and under-represented minorities are encouraged.
Boston University is An Equal Opportunity Employer.
