Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and
member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for a
3-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Education and Cognition
to begin in the fall of 2013.

This is an applied cognition position and the ideal candidate’s research
and outreach connects cognitive psychology to K-16 curriculum and
instruction. Scholars in all areas of human cognition and learning relevant
to education in and out of school are encouraged to apply. The position is
located in the School of Cognitive Science. We are particularly interested
in candidates with the demonstrated ability to work synergistically across
disciplinary boundaries, connecting with faculty and students in cognitive
science as well as our interdisciplinary program in Childhood, Youth, and
Learning.

The ideal candidate will have or will be expecting a PhD or EdD in
cognitive psychology, educational psychology, or a related field and
bededicated to innovation in undergraduate education, including
integrating
community based learning into their teaching. Responsibilities include
instruction of four courses per year, work with students on independent
projects, and advising. Hampshire is committed to building a culturally
diverse intellectual community and the ability to work cooperatively with
faculty, students and staff of various backgrounds is vital. We actively
seek applications from individuals from traditionally under-represented
groups.

Review of candidates is ongoing, and will continue until the position is
filled. Applicants should submit a statement of teaching and research
interests, curriculum vita, sample of written work, and three letters of
