Adjunct Lecturer to serve as Practicum Coordinator and teach Psychology of
Human Development Counseling Psychology, Department of- Academic Year
Adjunct Lecturer

Purpose:

The Department of Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit
Catholic institution offering graduate degrees in Counseling and Counseling
Psychology, seeks applicants for a one-year appointment as the Practicum
Coordinator for our CPSY 331 and CPSY 333 practica. This position carries
the rank of Academic Year Adjunct Lecturer during the 2012 - 2013. As
Practicum Coordinator the successful candidate will have knowledge and
experience with bay area mental health agencies and schools. The successful
candidate will also teach two sections of Psychology of Human Development
(one section of this course must be taught in either Summer Session I or
II).
Qualifications

M.A., M.S.W., or C.S.W., must be currently licensed as a Marriage and
Family Therapist or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State
of California and hold certification as a Supervisor. The successful
candidate must demonstrate an understanding of the Laws of the State of
California as applicable to the training of MFT and LPCC students, with a
thorough understanding of the Board of Behavioral Sciences regulations and
policies on practicum; the candidate must be knowledgeable of mental health
agencies in the San Jose/San Francisco Bay area.
Rank and Salary

Academic Year Adjunct Lecturer (AYAL); Full Year. Serve as Practicum
Coordinator for the department's 331 and 333 practicum sequences in Fall,
Winter, and Spring quarters; teach 2 sections of CPSY 216 Psychology of
Human Development (one section must be taught in either Summer Session I or
II). Salary range: $29,500 to $36,875 (salary based on years of
university-level teaching experience as the instructor of record after
completion of Master's degree) + an additional $11,000 stipend. Benefits
eligible. This position is an 11-month position and the successful
candidate is expected to maintain active office hours during the summer.

CPSY 216 Psychology of Human Development
Other courses will be assigned based on expertise of successful candidate
and departmental needs.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

   1. Flexibility to teach within the 2012 - 2013 schedule including
   morning, afternoon, and/or evenings. (Please go to

   2. Flexibility to conduct office hours from mid-afternoon to early
   evening, between Mondays and Thursdays.
   3. Responsible for planning, organizing, and managing annual Practicum
   Fair for students; including logistics, communication with agencies, as
   well as marketing of the event
   4. Responsible for planning, organizing and managing fall Practicum
   Symposium for students applying for practicum during the same year
   5. Meets with every student who intends on applying for practicum sites
   in the year prior to the application; review of student preparedness both
   academically, clinically, and psychologically; advising with students as
   needed. Post weekly office hours (minimum of 10 hours per week; 5 hours
   must be 'walk-in').
   6. Primary liaison between University and practicum sites; including
   assessing sites and quality of services and supervision for students;
   responds to any questions or concerns by practicum sites in a timely and
   reasonable manner; manages any emergency situations that occur with
   students and practicum sites; annually visits 50% of the practicum sites to
   meet with director(s) and on site supervisor(s).
   7. Coordinator of CPSY 333 supervisors; consults with Chair about the
   hiring of supervisors; regularly meets with 333 supervisors; ensures that
   supervisors are collecting student documentation in a timely fashion
   8. Attend faculty meetings (usually scheduled on Tuesday morning) as
   requested by the Chair.
   9. Responsible for reviewing and editing all practicum forms and legal
   documents to ensure that they are consistent with state law and BBS
   requirements; has legal counsel review such forms and documents as needed
   10. Fulfill other instructional or academic duties, such as attending
   department special events, as may be assigned by the Chair of Counseling
   Psychology and/or the Interim Dean of the School of Education and
   Counseling Psychology.
