RE: [xmca] LSV-HPF

Message from Francine Smolucha:
In Regard to the entry in the Encyclopedia of Creativity 1999 on Vygotsky on Creativity by Natalia Gajdamaschko - see footnote#7 p. 82 in my 2012 publication that recounts how I broughtthe Vygotsky papers on creativity to Natalia's attention whenI was a guest speaker at the University of Georgia at Athens (1997). [She had been unaware of Vygotsky's writings on creativity.]
Natalie's article in the Encyclopedia of Creativity clearly states thatVygotsky regarded creativity as a higher psychological function. In my previous lengthy e-mail, I explained that there is no word-for-word quotein the Vygotsky texts where he actually says this. But Vygotsky is clearlytalking about creative imagination as a higher psychological function. He also suggests creativity be considered as a psychological system in whichimagination and realistic thinking work together.

My own first take would be that LSV considered all (culturally) mediated psychological functions to be "higher."
